Observations from the 139th Canton Fair: Cultural Tourism Equipment Gains Momentum, Smart Interactive Products Become New Favorites
April 24,2026
The 139th China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) opened in Guangzhou on April 15. Centered on the themes of "new, green, and smart," the fair brought together over 30,000 enterprises from around the world.
By the end of the first phase on April 19, 167,000 overseas buyers from 216 countries and regions had attended the fair, a 5.9% increase compared to the same period of the previous session.
In the "Cultural Tourism, Sports, and Toys" exhibition area, smart simulation products became a focal point for overseas buyers. In recent years, the experience economy has been gaining momentum, and cultural tourism equipment featuring immersive interactive experiences is emerging as a new consumption highlight.
Take Zigong's animatronic dinosaur industry as an example. This industrial cluster has gathered over 100 enterprises, with its products capturing more than 90% of the global market share and exported to over 90 countries and regions. Zigong Hualong Technology Co., Ltd. , as one of the participants in this industry, exports its products to more than 80 countries and regions. At the fair, these smart simulation products from Zigong, known for their durability and low maintenance costs, attracted considerable attention from overseas buyers.
The Canton Fair also sent a clear signal: global buyers are looking not just for products, but for solutions. More than 7% of exhibitors have begun offering integrated "hardware + software + service" packages. Hualong Technology's bipedal intelligent animatronic dinosaur, capable of stable walking and basic interaction, is a product of this trend.
From badminton-playing robots to electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, Chinese manufacturing is showing a new face. Looking out from the window of the Canton Fair, the underlying logic of global trade is changing: competition is no longer just about price, but about product innovation capability and scenario adaptability. This opens up broader market space for China's cultural tourism equipment industry, including Zigong's animatronic dinosaurs.
